I grew up in Dothan, Alabama, the home of the National Peanut Festival and where there are painted peanut statues on every corner. Growing up, I spent most of my life on a softball field, a volleyball court or in broiler houses. When I was about twelve years old, my family decided to get into the poultry industry by purchasing and running a five house broiler house farm. That family business has now expanded into running broiler farms with a  total of six mega houses.

After graduating from Northview High School in 2012, I stayed in my home town for two years and went to George C. Wallace Community College on a two-year softball scholarship. While I was there, I learned what it took to be a college athlete and the life lessons that go with it. The summer of my freshman year, I traveled to Alajuelita, Costa Rica, where I fell in love with mission work. I was in awe of how much of an impact these simple services made on the people. I graduated from Wallace with my Associates in Science in May 2014.

In Fall 2014, I started my first semester at Auburn University. Poultry Science was not my major when I began my journey at Auburn, it was Animal Science. After many encounters with the Poultry Science Department I decided that I wanted to create a future career with it. After my major change I became heavily involved in the department through joining the Poultry Science Club, serving as Secretary and now, as President.

I will graduate spring 2017 and enter the industry as a management trainee for Wayne Farms. This next step in life would not be possible for all the events and people that have had an impact on my life and made me who I am today.
